Meet André Bauer
André Bauer was inaugurated as South Carolina's 84th Lieutenant Governor on January
15, 2003 and continues to serve the Palmetto State.
The son of William R. and Saundrea Bauer, André was born in Charleston on March 20, 1969.
He is a graduate of Irmo High School and the University of South Carolina.
Elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1996, André gained a reputation
for hard work and tireless constituent service. In 1999, André was elected to the
South Carolina State Senate in a special election. He was re-elected in the 2000
General Election and served in the Senate until January 15, 2003.
As Lieutenant Governor, André is in the unique position of being part of both the Executive and
Legislative Branches of state government. In fact, during his six years of presiding over the Senate,
André stopped $2 billion in tax increases, staying true to his conservative values while looking
out for the best interests of all South Carolinians.
